Handling & Reconstitution Guides
Reference information for handling lyophilised research peptides in a laboratory setting. This is general laboratory guidance for research use only — it is not medical, dosing, or administration advice.
Storage
- Store lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptides at 2–8 °C, protected from direct sunlight and moisture. For long-term storage (several months or more), −20 °C is standard practice. Sealed lyophilised peptides are stable for extended periods.
- Allow a sealed vial to reach room temperature before opening to avoid condensation.
- Once reconstituted, store refrigerated (2–8°C) and use within the period appropriate to the peptide.
Reconstitution (laboratory handling)
- Use bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) as the diluent for research handling.
- Draw the diluent and let it run slowly down the inside wall of the vial — do not inject force directly onto the peptide powder.
- Do not shake. Swirl gently and allow the peptide to dissolve on its own.
- The solution should be clear. Discard if cloudy or if particulates remain.
- Label the vial with the peptide, concentration, and reconstitution date.
Concentration reference
Concentration = peptide mass ÷ diluent volume. Example: a 5 mg peptide reconstituted with 2 mL of diluent gives 2.5 mg/mL. Adjust diluent volume to the concentration your protocol requires.
Purity and batch documentation
Purity is >99% (manufacturer’s HPLC specification). Batch documentation is available on request — message @north_vial before you order.
