Description
GHRP-2, also known by the non-proprietary name pralmorelin, is a synthetic hexapeptide belonging to the growth hormone releasing peptide family. It contains D-amino acids, including D-2-naphthylalanine, and is a potent agonist at the GHS-R1a ghrelin receptor.
Research use of GHRP-2 centres on the pharmacology of the ghrelin receptor and the hypothalamic–pituitary control of growth hormone secretion. Animal and in-vitro studies have examined its effects on somatotroph signalling, on prolactin and ACTH release, and on appetite-related pathways. Its potency and well-documented receptor activity make it a common positive control in secretagogue assays. Comparative studies have used it to benchmark newer non-peptide secretagogues against an established reference agonist.
