Description
ACE-031 (ramatercept) is a fusion protein that joins the extracellular ligand-binding domain of activin receptor type IIB (ActRIIB) to the Fc region of human immunoglobulin G1. It acts as a soluble decoy receptor, or ligand trap, for several members of the TGF-β superfamily.
Ligands captured by ActRIIB include activin A and activin B, growth differentiation factors GDF-8 and GDF-11, and certain bone morphogenetic proteins. By sequestering them before they reach cell-surface receptors, ACE-031 reduces activation of the ALK4 and ALK5 type I receptor kinases and the phosphorylation of SMAD2 and SMAD3. Preclinical research uses it to dissect ligand-specific signalling, receptor–ligand binding and SMAD-dependent transcription in cell and rodent models.
Keep the lyophilised protein sealed and frozen.
For use by qualified researchers in a laboratory setting only. Not intended for human or veterinary use of any kind.
