Description
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide in its oxidised form, NAD+, is a coenzyme present in every living cell. It shuttles electrons in glycolysis, the citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, and is consumed as a substrate by sirtuin deacylases, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerases and the NAD+ glycohydrolase CD38.
Because of these roles, NAD+ sits at the centre of research into cellular energy metabolism, DNA-repair signalling and mitochondrial function. Rodent studies have documented declining tissue NAD+ levels with age and have explored how NAD+ availability influences sirtuin activity and mitochondrial biogenesis. Researchers also use it as a reference standard when studying precursors such as nicotinamide riboside and nicotinamide mononucleotide.
NAD+ is hygroscopic; keep vials tightly sealed, dry and cold.
Supplied for research purposes only and must not be used as a drug, food additive or cosmetic. Not for human or veterinary use.
Supplied as a 10-vial kit of lyophilised powder. Dispatched in 1–2 business days.
